The Ashwick and Oakhill Village Hall Committee has had an excellent start to its fundraising drive to raise money for redevelopment of the children's play area in the villages' recreation field.

The recent car boot sale raised £462 and committee chairman Louise Hockey said: "It was great to see the local support for the first in a series of fundraising events. We would like to say a big thank you to the local businesses and members of the community who sponsored our prize draw – they included Brothers Drinks, The Mendip Inn, the Oakhill Inn, Cerise Photography, Wookey Hole and Noah's Ark Zoo Farm."

Fundraising continues for the festive season with a £925 Alexa handbag, kindly donated by Mulberry, being the star prize in the Christmas raffle. If there are any other businesses or individuals who would like to provide prizes for the raffle or anyone wishing to support the fundraising scheme, then call Louise Hockey on 01749 840203.
